Research Theme
Development of an Inter-Hospital Transfer Support System for Critically Ill Patients
Abstract
In the treatment of critically ill patients, urgent transfers to other hospital may be necessary depending on their condition and required care.
Traditionally, the referring physician had to manually extract essential information from a vast amount of medical data, assess the appropriate level of care, select a suitable receiving hospital, and individually inquire about patient acceptance.
Delays in transfers can negatively impact patient survival, yet physicians may not always be familiar with the local critical care network. Moreover, coordinating transfers while treating critically ill patients imposes a heavy burden.
To address this, we developed a system that automatically extracts and consolidates necessary medical data from electronic health records.
Additionally, we established a platform that visualizes ICU bed availability, enabling faster matching between critically ill patients and appropriate medical institutions.
