Development of chiral halonium salts and their applications
Abstract
Organic synthesis is an important method for accessing useful molecules. An Organocatalyst has been focused on as a new tool in these two decades, which mainly utilizes hydrogen bonds or ionic bonds for activating substrates. Recently, the halogen bond has been employed as an activation of Lewis basic substrates, which can be formed between halogen atoms such as iodine and bromine.
I have focused on a halogen bond from chiral halonium salts, which was developed and applied to the development of an efficient preparation method for useful molecules. The catalysts discovered in our lab have shown higher activity than previously reported catalysts in some reactions. I will continue the development of their derivatives and characteristic new reactions by utilizing computational chemistry.
