Research Theme
Elucidation of Gene Regulatory Mechanisms in Disease Pathogenesis and Differentiation Process by Omics Analysis
Abstract
Based on my clinical experience, our goal is to identify diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets through an integrated analysis of clinical information and omics data obtained from patient-derived samples, such as comprehensive gene expression (transcriptome) and protein expression (proteome).
However, it is often challenging to collect patient-derived samples. Therefore, we also utilize in vitro models derived from stem cells or progenitor cells to understand the gene regulatory mechanisms during the differentiation process.
Comparing these models with disease models could also help us to elucidate the mechanisms of disease pathogenesis.
These accumulated data can also be utilized to improve differentiation induction methods from iPS cells and to increase the efficiency of iPS cell reprogramming.
